“There is no one who takes care of us as lovingly as our mother does. She is our living God” – Unknown.
It is such an honor to have a designated day to celebrate the most important women in our lives, our mothers. On today I honor and celebrate my mother who raised me to be the woman I am. She is an amazing mom. There are not many things I remember or hold on to from my childhood, but what I do remember is how hard my mother worked to provide for me and my two siblings. As a single parent, she went above and beyond to be sure we had everything we needed and most of what we wanted. She spoiled all three of her children and while I try to deny it, we are still all pretty spoiled even today as three grown adults.

“Motherhood is a gift not felt with the hands but felt with the heart.”
For me, mother’s day is three times more special today than ever before. Now that I am a mother myself, I understand how selfless and strong we have to be and how deserving we are of an official day to be honored. I love waking up to homemade french toast in bed prepared by my team of chefs Alydia and George (insert smile here). However, this mothers day is even more special because I am now a mom of two girls and having Charli join our family this past September has warmed my mommy heart all the more.

Motherhood is no easy feat but who can deny its rewarding aspect? I enjoy exhausting myself beyond measure to do for my kids. Maybe not in the moment it is all transpiring but during times such as this, amid reflection where the lens is so much clearer, I see and feel the reward in knowing how thankful my little ones are of me. They think I am the best thing ever to walk this earth and their everyday hearts flutter for my voice, meals, kisses, hugs and love. They are the fuel that keeps me going and remind me not to be so hard on myself when I feel bad about working or taking time for me.

Now I know today may be difficult for those who are experiencing infertility, lost their mom or experienced the loss of a child. Today is for you as well and I honor and celebrate you! My heart hurts for you and I cannot express that enough. Having experienced the loss of two babies by way of miscarriages, I share my sincerest empathy. From the moment we get a positive pregnancy test we instantly grow hearts of a mom.
If you are a mom reading this post, I hope that on today you feel appreciated, loved and worthy. Cherish these moments with your children and just enjoy the gratification that is motherhood.
Happy Mothers Day!
